There is a moment most news readers know well. You are halfway through a headline, something catches — a number, a name, a place — and for a brief second the whole complexity of the world presses against the glass. Then the moment passes. The tab closes. The day moves on.
I have spent years in that moment. Lingering there. Wondering what happens if you actually follow the thread.
A business mind with a writer's instinct
By profession, I work in business and management here in Colombo. I think about strategy, systems, people, and outcomes for a living. But I have always read voraciously — economics, geopolitics, science, culture, music. Not because I had to, but because I genuinely could not help it.
What I kept noticing was a gap. The news was everywhere, but the thinking about the news — the context, the consequences, the connections between one story and another — that was harder to find. Most coverage told you what happened. Very few told you why it mattered or what comes next.
Why I started NajiyaDaily
I started this blog because I wanted to write the kind of articles I wished existed. Pieces that treat readers as intelligent adults. Stories that go one level deeper than the headline. Writing that is honest, clear, and occasionally a little surprising.
“Three editions a day. Morning to set the tone, afternoon to go deeper, evening to make sense of it all. Stories worth your time, every single day.”
The world produces an extraordinary amount of news every twenty-four hours. Most of it is noise. Some of it genuinely matters. NajiyaDaily is my attempt to find the signal — across world affairs, technology, science, culture, and music — and bring it to you in a form that respects your intelligence and your time.
What you will find here
Three articles a day, published at 8 AM, 1 PM, and 7 PM. Each one covers the story that is shaping the conversation right now — whether that is a geopolitical shift, a scientific breakthrough, a cultural moment, or a new piece of music that deserves more attention than it is getting.
I also include a daily gadget pick — something affordable, useful, or just genuinely interesting that I think is worth knowing about. Not because I was paid to say so, but because good things deserve to be found.
From Colombo, writing about the world. I hope something here makes you think, or smile, or look at something differently. That is enough for me.
“I read every message. Always happy to hear from readers.”
Got a story tip? A question? Something you think deserves coverage?
Drop me a note — I genuinely enjoy hearing from people who care about the world.
